Tools you will need:
- Battery operated Screwdriver
- Torx-Head Screwdriver bit
- Phillips-Head Screwdriver bit
- Cable Cutters
Procedure
- Remove the side panel of the FUYL Locker, to do this you need a torx-head screwdriver bit. There are approximately 20-25 screws, both on the side panel and the front panel. This is what you can see when the side panel is removed:
- To ensure this process is completed smoothly, cut these cable ties that are holding the power point cable and the USB port label.
- Unscrew the power point from inside the locker. Please note that there is a second screw that is hard to see.
- Once these two screws are removed, we can move the power point out of our way. We have found that it is best to move the cable from the power point above as positioned below (note this can be quite tough but with the cable ties removed it is easier.)
- Pop the left-hand side (as seen in the picture below) of the power point out of the socket and slide the whole unit from the socket.
- Looking at the USB port from behind shows a metal retaining bracket. This simply slides out towards you.
- Squeeze the back of the USB port and push it into the locker. It may take a bit of force.
- Follow that USB cable back to the USB hub and remove. You can now remove the broken USB port from the FUYL Locker.
Fitting a new USB Port:
To replace this part, follow these instructions in reverse, fitting the USB port, metal bracket, power point and cable ties in that order. Once you have removed the port you will find it is a relatively simple process.
